Zygomatic Dental Implants Clinic
Zygomatic implants
Zygomatic implants are a real alternative for patients for whom traditional dental implants are unsuitable. Our surgeons at Royal Dental Clinics are very skilled in extreme bone loss cases; Dr. Chirag Chamria, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon at Royal Dental Clinics, is one of only a handful of surgeons in India who are able to carry out zygoma implant surgery in patients with bone loss, using specially designed in-house zygomatic implants.
Zygomatic implants differ from other types of implants such as All-on-4, as they are anchored in the zygomatic or cheekbone, hence the name. Typically, the zygomatic implant is ideal for patients who may have inadequate or poor quality bone in their upper jaw, and so regular dental implants would be impossible. When dentures have been worn for a long time, it can lead to the loss of large amounts of supporting bone, which creates a ‘collapse’ or loss of face height. Zygomatic implants correct this loss of facial structure, which also has a rejuvenating effect on the appearance of the face.
At Royal Dental Clinics, the zygomatic implant has become the implant of choice for cases with a severely reabsorbed maxilla. Without this implant, many patients would otherwise require invasive grafting procedures to establish adequate bone volume for the placement of conventional implants. Zygomatic implants help avoid grafting and shorten treatment time, with significant post-operative improvements in function and aesthetics.
We at Royal Dental Clinics prefer Zygomatic implants as we have noticed in several cases that after zygomatic treatment the improvement in quality of life for the patient is dramatic. Before treatment, these patients are orally handicapped, which can lead to a lot of psychological, social and functional problems. Dr. Chirag Chamria mentions that, “In my experience, after treatment, the quality of life can return to normal. It’s remarkable.”
Graftless Solution For Permanent Teeth
Traditionally, periodontists dealing with patients who had low bone density in the jaw had only a few options. The surgeon could take a piece of denser bone from another place in the patient’s body and graft it to what remained of the jaw. Alternatively, the surgeon could take a synthetic bone graft and attach it to the jaw. These procedures involved multiple steps and took more time than graftless procedures. They were also highly expensive.
In a graftless procedure, our surgeon at Royal Dental Clinics simply attaches the Implant to the cheekbone. There is a CT scan which is done in our in-house machines beforehand, the entire implant can be done in the matter of a few hours at Royal Dental Clinics. Patients have opted for graftless procedures as it’s a long term solution.
